- What does CPD stand for?
CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development which entails learning activities undertaken by professional engineers (P.Eng.) to enhance their knowldge and skills in their field of practices.
- What is a CEU?
CEU stands for Continuing Education Unit which is a conventional form of measure for continuing educational programs.
- What is a PDH?
PDH stands for Professional Development Hour and is defined as one contact hour (minimum of 50 minutes) of instruction, presentation or study.
- What is the relationship between a CEU and a PDH?
1 CEU = 10 PDHs
- How do I know if my Provincial Board mandates continuing education requirements?
Currently, all Canadian Provincial Engineering Boards mandate continuing professional development (CPD) requirements for all their professional engineers. Click on your respective Provincial Board to check your CPD requirements.
- What type of coninuing education programs does CEDengineering.ca offer to satisfy your CPD requirements?
We offer "Formal Activites" as required by the Provincial Boards.
- What are "Formal Activities?
Formal Activites, as defined by the Provincial Boards, are those provided as structured courses or programs, often for academic credit and may include an evaluation process. Our CPD courses are all offered for PDH credit and include an evaluation (online quiz) process.
- Are CEDengineering.ca formal activities accepted by my Provincial Board?
Generally, the Provincial Boards will accept formal activities in the form of online continuing education CPD courses provided that:
- A course or activity whose "purpose and objective are clear with a content that will maintain, improve or expand the skills and knowledge of the licensee’s field of practice" as recommended in the NCEES CPC Guidelines.
- The completion of the course or activity, if offered for PDH credits, can be independently verified by taking a quiz and grading it with the results being maintained by the continuing education sponsor for a specific period of time.
CEDengineering.ca courses are prepared in accordance with the NCEES CPC Guidelines. Therefore, they are in compliance with the Provincial Boards. Furthermore, our online courses are supplemented with a professional quiz process intended to evaluate the engineer’s effort to strengthen and maintain competency in the technical, managerial or ethical fields.

- What’s the procedure for taking an Online Course, a Video Presentation, an Interactive Course, or a Live Webinar through CEDengineering.ca?
To take any of the aforementioned continuing education programs, please do the following:
- Browse our Course Library;
- Select and add your courses or webinars of interest to the shopping cart and complete the payment process;
- Go through the course or webinar;
- Take the quiz online; (Note: For Live Webinars there will be no quiz. Therefore, Questions 2 through 5 below will not apply to Live Webinars.)
- Print your “Certificate of Completion” instantly.
- What is the format of the quiz?
The quiz consists of multiple-choice questions or a combination of multiple-choice and True/False type questions. Depending on the length of the course, the minimum number of questions required would generally be as follows:
- 1 to 2 Unit-Hour Course 10 Questions
- 3 Unit Hour Course 15 Questions
- 4+ Unit Hour Course 20 Questions + 5 more for every Unit Hour
- Is there a time limit to complete the course and quiz?
No. You may take as much time as you need to review the course and complete the quiz. You can save your quiz answers at any point and return to the quiz at any time.
- What happens if I don’t achieve the passing grade of 70%?
If you don’t complete the quiz on the first attempt, you may retake it as many times as necessary in order to pass at no additional cost.
- How do I retake the quiz at a later date?
If you decide to return later, simply log in to your account and retake the quiz for the course in question.
- Can I purchase the same course or webinar I took previously?
Yes. You can purchase the same course or webinar you previously purchased; however, we recommend that you take a different course or webinar.

- What documentation will CEDengineering.ca provide me with as a proof for completing my course?
We will provide you with a “Certificate of Completion” as a proof of completing each course.
- How do I obtain my “Certificate of Completion”?
Upon successful completion the quiz, you may view and print the “Certificate of Completion” instantly in one the following ways:
- By clicking on “Download Certificate” at the bottom of the “Course Results” page
- By accessing your account at any time and downloading it
- By downloading it from the email notification sent to you
- Do I submit the “Certificate of Completion” to my Provincial Board?
You will need to submit your “Certificate of Completion” to your Provincial Board:
- As part of your license renewal and/or CPD reporting process
- When you are being audited
- Does CEDengineering.ca maintain records of my formal/course activities?
Yes. It is the policy of CEDengineering.ca to maintain your records indefinitely. However, you are ultimately responsible for tracking all your formal/course activity records for all provinces mandating continuing education CPD requirements. Therefore, we highly recommend that you download the “Certificate of Completion”, and save it on your local drive.
- Does CEDengineering.ca submit my formal/course activities to my Provinical Board?
No. You are ultimately responsible for submitting all your formal/course activity records required by your Provincial Board. The Certificate of Completion we provide you includes your name, the name and number of the course, the date you completed the course, the PDH credits earned, the name of the Course Provider and the name of the sponsoring organization (Continuing Education & Development, Inc.).

- Do I have to login to browse the CEDengineering.ca website?
No. The only time you need to login is when:
- You decide to purchase a course and take the quiz
- You need to access your account
- Would I be able to edit my account information?
Yes. Log in to your account and click on “Edit Profile”.
- What if I forget my password?
Click on Forgot my Password to retrieve it. If you are still unable to retrieve your password, please contact us at info@cedengineering.ca.
- How does CEDengineering.ca process my personal information that I provide?
We will use your personal information internally as follows:
- To generate your “Certificate of Completion” each time you successfully complete a formal/course activity
- To send you system notifications when you create your CED account, make a purchase and/or sign up for a benefit program
- To notify you periodically of continuing education updates, latest course releases or promotional programs (optional)
- Does CEDengineering.ca share my personal information with third parties?
CEDengineering.ca will only share your personal information with select third parties for the fulfillment of the following services:
- To process your payment with PayPal, our secure payment processing affiliate
- To provide your provincial board with pertinent information, if required

- What is your price structure?
The standard price structure is in Canadian Dollars and is as follows:
- $34.00(CAD) per one PDH credit earned for Online Courses
- $38.00(CAD) per one PDH credit earned for Video Presentations
- $46.00(CAD) per one PDH credit earned for Interactive Courses
- $65.00(CAD) per one PDH credit earned for Live Webinars
However, promotional discounts are available depending on the Benefit Program you enroll in.
- What type of promotional discounts do you offer to corporations?
CEDengineering.ca offers the following discounts:
- Up to 52% on Live Webinars if you enroll in the Group Webinar Program
- Up to 80% on Online Courses if you enroll in the Pre-Pay PDH Program
- What type of promotional discount do you offer to individuals?
CEDengineering.ca offers the following discounts:
- 20% on all continuing education programs for 30 days upon subscribing to our CED Newsletter
- 30% on all continuing education programs for your next three (3) courses once you Refer a P.Eng.
- Special promotions on a variety of our continuing education CPD programs
- What payment options do you accept?
We accept payments in one of the following ways:
- By a major credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover)
- By check payable to Continuing Education and Development, Inc. and mailed to:

(Note: If you pay by credit card, you can print your “Certificate of Completion” instantly upon passing the quiz. Whereas, if you pay by check, you can print your “Certificate of Completion” after we receive and deposit your check payment.)
- How does CEDengineering.ca secure my online payment?
We use Moneris to process your online credit card payment. Moneris provides state-of-the-art fraud prevention tools, including 3-D Secure and Moneris Kount Essential.
- Moneris Kount Essential is an advanced fraud protection platform designed for businesses looking to considerably reduce exposure to fraud and strategically assess customers in real-time.
- 3-D Secure 2.0 is the new industry standard for reducing instances of fraud during ecommerce transactions. Using risk-based authentication, it helps confirm the validity of transactions in real-time for improved checkout speed, security, and cart abandonment rates.
- What should I do if my online payment does not get processed?
If your transaction does not go through, please contact your credit card banking institution to inquire about the issue, or use a different credit card and try processing your payment again.
- How do I obtain a receipt of payment?
You may obtain a receipt of payment in one of the following ways:
- Download the receipt instantly from the payment confirmation page upon completing your payment.
- Download the receipt from the email notification sent to you confirming your successful payment.
- Access your account at any time and download your receipt of payment.
- What is your refund or exchange policy?
While CEDengineering.ca prides itself on the quality of its courses, as your satisfaction is our utmost priority, our refund or exchange policies are as follows:
- If you are not satisfied with an Online Course, Video Presentation or Interactive Course you just purchased within the last 24 hours and you have not taken the quiz, we will issue you a full refund of the course upon receiving a written request within that 24-hour period.
- If you are not satisfied with a Online Course, Video Presentation or Interactive Course you purchased within the last 30 days and you have not taken the quiz, we will exchange the course for an equal value upon receiving a written request within that 30-day period.
- If you purchased a Live Webinar that you can't attend, we will issue a full refund if you notify us a minimum of 24 hours in advance. Otherwise, we will exchange it for another webinar of equal value.
- If you purchased any of our continuing education courses and was not accepted by your Provincial Board, not only we will refund you the full purchase price of the course, but we will offer you a replacement course of an equal value at no additional cost, upon receiving a written proof of denial from your Provincial Board.

- What qualifications do you require to become a CEDengineering.ca Course Provider?
To qualify as a Course Provider, you need to have substantial work experience related to the subject matter you wish to teach, along with one of the following credentials:
- Professional Engineering License; or
- Doctorate Degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
- Are there any costs associated with publishing my course(s) on CEDengineerng.ca?
No. You do not incur any costs by publishing your course(s) on our website. We bear all the following costs:
- Course review and web customization
- Course approval by the Provincial Board, when required
- Course publishing, marketing and promotion
- How do I get started?
To get started, you need to send the following information to info@cedengineering.ca:
- Short biography and updated resume
- Brief description of your proposed courses
- Estimated number of hours it would take the to review the course and complete the quiz
- Are there any course preparation guidelines that I should follow?
Yes. Please click on Provide a Course, then click on “Course Preparation Guidelines” and follow the instructions.
- How do I earn royalties by becoming a CEDengineerng.ca Course Provider?
You will earn a specified percentage of the course sale price each time your course is purchased.
- How do I track my earnings?
You can track your overall earnings from your Course Provider account. You will also receive a system notification email instantly each time your course is purchased.
