Preparing to Lead
This online engineering 2 PDH video presentation leads participants through a series of topics designed to stimulate introspection and self-analysis as a foundation for potential leadership success.
This course is designed to get you off to a safe start in leadership. “Safe” as in avoiding self-inflicted errors that can create problems now or in the future. The model for this course is the typical high school drivers’ education program where (in theory) you learn just enough to start driving safely with minimal risk to yourself and others while you gain experience.
We begin by looking inwardly at the three essential elements necessary to lay a strong foundation for future leadership and then how well you connect with others. Dealing with reality successfully is critical and keys to doing that are covered.
Finally, we will look outward at the team around you and provide critical tips and strategies for dealing with your potential subordinates successfully.
This PE continuing education live webinar is intended to provide you with the following specific knowledge and skills:
- Learn three essential elements of leadership preparation.
- Learn what it means to connect authentically with co-workers, clients, and vendors.
- Learn the value of operating in reality and avoiding potentially harmful self-delusion.
- Learn to identify any self-imposed limitations or qualifiers that would limit professional development.
- Identify your customer service skill level.
- Learn to identify the working styles of those you encounter as well as yourself as a professional member of the work team.
