An Introduction to Soil Improvement: Building on Better Ground

This online engineering CPD live webinar provides a comprehensive understanding of state-of-the-art soil improvement methods for engineers
This course addresses the critical need to improve soil conditions that often dictate the success of engineering projects. Selecting the appropriate method requires a solid grasp of various techniques and their unique characteristics. This webinar equips professionals with the expertise to evaluate and implement strategies that transform soil properties such as strength, compressibility, hydraulic conductivity, and liquefaction potential.
Participants will gain in-depth knowledge of essential soil improvement techniques, including wick drains, deep compaction methods, grouting techniques, and ground freezing. The webinar will explore deep compaction methods like vibrocompaction and stone columns, widely recognized as some of the most effective approaches in the field. Additionally, engineers will also go over soil mixing and injection methods such as permeation grouting, compaction grouting, jet grouting, and deep soil mixing, enabling them to address a wide range of project-specific challenges.
This 2 CPD online live webinar is intended for engineers looking to deepen their understanding of soil improvement techniques, with a balanced focus on theoretical foundations and practical applications.
This continuing education live webinar is designed to provide you with the following specific knowledge and skills:
- Evaluating soil conditions and determining the necessity of soil improvement techniques.
- Applying preloading and wick drains to accelerate consolidation.
- Implementing deep compaction methods, including vibrofloatation, dynamic compaction, and stone columns.
- Understanding soil mixing and injection methods such as permeation grouting, compaction grouting, jet grouting, and deep soil mixing.
- Utilizing freezing techniques for soil stabilization in practical applications.
