Temperature Scales
This online engineering PDH course provides information on the development of different temperature scales throughout history.
When we think of temperature scales, we think either Fahrenheit or Centigrade and not much farther than that. In fact, it is far more complicated than that and there is a history behind how temperature is defined. Many different scales have existed throughout history until the development of the International Temperature Scale of 1990 (ITS-90). Not all temperature scales are the same, because they are not defined in the same way. There is more confusion on the usage and origin of temperature units more often than any other variable.
This 3 PDH online course is applicable to mechanical engineers who are interested in gaining knowledge concerning temperature scales.
This PE continuing education course is intended to provide you with the following specific knowledge and skills:
- Familiarizing with ancient history of temperature measurement
- Familiarizing with the effect of the introduction of thermodynamic theory
- Learning about the development of temperature scales in the Middle Ages
- Understanding the definition of ITS-90 temperature scale
- Exploring the various temperature scales
