Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) - Thermodynamics and Liquefication Systems Part 3A

COURSE NO: P03-006
PDH CREDIT: 3
Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) - Thermodynamics and Liquefication Systems Part 3A
Course Highlights

This online engineering CPD course provides a comprehensive overview of common cooling and liquefaction systems.

This course provides a thorough understanding of the principles and practical applications of cooling and liquefaction systems, equipping learners with the knowledge to optimize energy efficiency and enhance system performance in their respective fields. The course starts with basic car air conditioners and progresses to advanced refrigeration systems reaching -40°F. It then explores cascade systems using different refrigerants for extremely low temperatures without mixing. Finally, the course examines mixed refrigerant systems combined with a single refrigerant, like propane, for a simple and efficient liquefaction process.

This 3 CPD online course is applicable to mechanical engineers, HVAC technicians, and industrial process operators.
Learning Objectives

This continuing education course is intended to provide you with the following specific knowledge and skills:

  • Learning the methods of pretreating natural gas before liquefaction, including removal of solids, liquids, H2S, CO2, mercury, water vapor, and heavy hydrocarbons from the liquefaction feed gas
  • Knowing how a car air conditioner works
  • Understanding different refrigerants and the limitations of single component refrigerants
  • Familiarizing with getting down to cryogenic temperatures using cascade systems, mixed refrigerant systems, separated mixed refrigerant systems, and propane precooled mixed separated mixed refrigerant systems
  • Learning the post-production nitrogen removal process
  • Understanding Joules Thompson processes
  • Knowing the efficiency improvements of liquefaction systems
  • Familiarizing with the basics of thermodynamics
  • Learning the thermodynamics of refrigeration systems, including simple air conditioning as an automobile air conditioning system
  • Understanding the thermodynamics of liquefying natural gas, including cascade systems, mixed refrigerant systems, cascaded single and mixed refrigerant systems (C3MR system), and cascaded mixed refrigerant systems
