Accident Investigation
This online engineering PDH course introduces the concepts of accident (incident) investigation. Its purpose is to present a systems approach to help identify and control the underlying or root causes of all incidents in order to prevent their recurrence.
No matter how careful we are, there is a likelihood that we will have an accident some time in our professional career. Accident investigation allows us to find the root cause, so we can work to prevent recurrence. Assigning a cause without a thorough investigation is not acceptable for the law enforcement officer, nor is it acceptable for the engineer in our litigious world.
This 2 PDH online course is applicable to engineers, design and construction personnel, technical staff and facility operators who are interested in gaining a better understanding of the incident investigation process.
This P.Eng. continuing education course is intended to provide you with the following specific knowledge and skills:
- Understanding the language of incident investigations
- Establishing an incident investigation program
- Implementing a four-step systems approach to conducting incident investigations
- Learning how to document the investigation
In this professional engineering CEU course, you need to review the OSHA Publication, “Incident [Accident] Investigations: A Guide for Employers”, December 2015.
Once you complete your course review, you need to take a multiple-choice quiz consisting of fifteen (15) questions to earn 2 PDH credits. The quiz will be based on this OSHA publication.
Upon successful completion of the quiz, print your Certificate of Completion instantly. (Note: if you are paying by check or money order, you will be able to print it after we receive your payment.) For your convenience, we will also email it to you. Please note that you can log in to your account at any time to access and print your Certificate of Completion.
