Joseph Kamanda, P.E.

Mr. Joseph Kamanda is an online PDH course provider of continuing education courses for professional engineers.
 
Mr. Kamanda is a Geotechnical Engineer with over 18 year experience in Civil Engineering design and construction including 15 years of progressive geotechnical and geostructural experience.  He holds a Master of Civil Engineering degree from North Carolina State University and is a registered professional engineer (P.E.) in five states within the U.S. and abroad.
 
Throughout his career, Mr. Kamanda has managed civil, geo-structural and geotechnical engineering and construction projects for private industries, local and tribal governments, transportation, energy, healthcare, education, hospitality and commercial sectors in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma and Arkansas.  Mr. Kamanda s background includes design of shallow and deep foundation systems for buildings, bridges and earth retaining structures, pavement design and evaluation, construction inspection and materials testing and structural/geotechnical engineering forensic inspection and analysis.  He is also experienced in inspections for precast and pre-stressed structural elements utilized in the construction of bridges and containment structures.
 
Mr. Kamanda began his career abroad with Techsult & Company, Ltd. in Freetown, Sierra Leone and later worked as Projects Engineer for TAF Construction in Banjul, Gambia.  Following completion of his undergraduate program, Mr. Kamanda served as Adjunct Teaching Assistant at Fourah Bay College and later taught Computer Aided Design at Quantum Associates in Banjul, Gambia.  In 2000, Mr. Kamanda joined the Richmond, Virginia branch of Schnabel Engineering where he worked for nine (9) years as Projects Engineer.  He later worked as Senior Engineer for Building & Earth Sciences in Oklahoma and Arkansas, and for Nova Engineering in New York and New Jersey.
 
Mr. Kamanda is also currently Adjunct Faculty at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College in Richmond, Virginia where he teaches Mechanics and Strength of Materials.
